Being a daughter of immigrants is like living in two different communities. There's korean community that my parents are part of, and then there's Queens community that we all are part of. Like most immigrants, my parents and most of my relative came to United states many years ago. But they feel that they are more part of the korean community, korean culture. For me, it's more like balancing in two cultures.

Like many immigrants, my parents came to the United States to provide more opportunities for their children. They believe that their hard work will be rewarded when their children achieve better careers. It is not all about money, but it is about giving chance to their children to pursuit better education, better careers. For them, it's not about their statue, it's more about thier children's statue and how well thier children achieve better careers. So that's pressure that I need to carry on. I mean my parent will be happy as long as I'm happy about my choice in career. but they do hope that I become part of communnity and in a position to help another.
